Britney's Second Pregnancy
In the end of February 2006 it was reported that Britney Spears may be pregnant. She was rushed to the hospital with stomach cramps. On "Wireless Grammy" party that Britney and Kevin attended, she was not observed consuming alcohol, and according to sources Britney rubbed her belly in a Malibu store and told people, "That's right, number two!" The star revealed to another woman, "I'm pregnant!" in the spa at Maui's "Four Seasons" hotel where she, Kevin and their baby son were staying. A month later, Britney's belly button was visible through her shirt, and her belly appeared rounded. And she seemed very cheerful and happy.
But these rumors were never confirmed neither Britney nor Kevin until May 9, 2006. Britney broke the news on a surprise appearance on the "Late Show with David Letterman". "Don't worry Dave, it's not yours!" Britney laughed. "Oh. Well, I think that's good for the both of us," Dave responded. "So we've established now that you are in fact pregnant, is that right?" "Yes sir," replied Britney. She was expecting her second child in the end of September and was about 20 weeks pregnant.
Britney was learning more about the pregnancy the second time around. "The first time, you're new at everything, and you're paranoid. This one, I was like, I just gotta wing it. It was weird for me at first because of who I am: wherever you go they expect you to look the certain way," she confessed in "Harper's Bazaar" magazine, where she posed nude for its cover, "Being a mother is the most sacred experience of her life, but sometimes having to do it in front of the world can be challenging."
Preparing for her second baby, Britney Spears skipped the lavish showers in favor of intimate gatherings at friends' houses and even planned to recycle many of Sean's things. The decorating fury wasn't there this time.
The second time Britney didn't have morning sickness. Her cravings were ice! She couldn't stop eating it. And this time Britney didn't know the sex of her baby too, so she prepared a nursery in neutral colors. She had names picked out for a boy and for a girl.
Days before her due date, Britney Spears placed a frantic phone call to her doctor. She was having false labor pains, and Kevin stayed by her side throughout the ordeal. The doctor came to the house, but everything turned out to be okay. Still, she was nervous. Thrilled as she is to be a mother for the second rime, Britney was dreading the labor pains. Her son, Sean Preston, was born via caesarian section, and she planned to have the procedure again - even though doctors no longer insisted on it.
The Day of Birth
Most tots would be thrilled to get some toys for their first birthday, but Sean Preston was getting the best gift of all on his 1st birthday!
Kevin Federline took Britney Spears to the hospital in the evening hours of September 11 to prepare for the Cesarean birth.
On September 12, exactly two days before Sean's birthday, just before 2a.m., Britney Spears and her husband Kevin Federline welcomed their second son, who weighted in just under 6 lbs, 11 oz, via scheduled Caesarian section at a Los Angeles "Cedars-Sinai Medical Center". Britney was in the same room that Madonna gave birth to Rocco, Jennifer Garner gave birth to Violet and Russian singer Alsou gave birth to her daughter Safina.
An hour later, the proud dad was seen grinning as he milled about the hospital; later in the day Sean Preston and Britney's sister Jamie Lynn were among the visitors.
Britney rented not only one room for her stint at "Cedars-Sinai Medical Center", but she rented three. The two others were used by her family members, including her mom Lynne and sister Jamie Lynne. This way the whole family would be there for the birth. It would also enable the family to avoid the paparazzi coming in an out of the hospital.
This time, like the previous one, the "National Enquirer" was the first to report the happy news. Then "Us Weekly" reported the news, citing Federline's source, and then were MTV, "People" and others. Kevin text messaged friends early in the morning with, "Break out the cigars! We got a baby boy in the house!" Jamie Lynn Spears posted on her official website, "I am so excited about being an Aunt again!!! He is adorable!!" Britney's father, Jamie Spears confirmed the following details: the baby has dark curly hair, Britney and Kevin are undecided on a name, but they're toying with names with the letter "J." Most of the combinations of names they came up with had the middle name "James." Therefore, the initials were possibly JJF.
Britney returned home with her new bundle of joy six days after Caesarian section, but she hadn't confirmed the name of the baby. The couple have been staying home and bonding. The new baby and Sean got along great!
The Name
A day after giving birth the game of guessing baby's name has begun. According to many rumors Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have apparently settled on naming the baby Sutton Pierce since he'd have the same SP initials as his older brother Sean Preston. There was considerable confusion surrounding the birth of Britney's second child. And there were many reports that the baby was actually a girl...
Kevin talked about why he and Britney did not release their second son's name or cleared up the confusion. He said, "It's the first time that I've ever really sat down and talked to somebody about it. Everybody's been asking me the name and wanting me to verify and all that stuff, and it becomes a little bit tiring. I don't understand. Why can't you wait until we're ready to talk about it? Why does it have to be right after the baby's born? Why can't it be two, three, four months later? You know what I mean? Why right now? We just had a baby and didn't say anything. We didn't make the name up — that's the media for you. They try to capture all that and get people interested in our life, so I figured they made the name up to go with one of their stories, and it blew up everywhere. It was funny. It almost proves a point: They don't really know everything like they seem to think they do, you know? You feel that you owe them a piece, you know? The world, people, whoever. You owe them a piece of something, and you want something for yourself. If everyone knows everything about you and what you're doing all the time, you don't have any piece of private to yourself, and that was one thing we wanted to keep for us, for right now. It's our child."
A birth certificate for Britney's and Kevin's son was filed at the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder's office on October 24, more than a month after his birth. The certificate was signed by Kevin Federline himself on September 13, just one day after the birth of Jayden James.
Jayden's Mystery
Britney Spears was in a good mood as she showed guests around her new Beverly Hills home. But when one of her visitors innocently tried to take a photo of her son Jayden, Britney said, "No pictures! You can take pictures of Sean Preston but please, absolutely none of Jayden."
That incident, just days before Christmas, isn't the first time Britney has tried to keep Jayden, 4 months, under wraps. In fact, ever since Jayden's birth, the baby has been cloaked in secrecy. Even his name, widely reported as Sutton Pierce, remained a secret until details of his birth certificate were finally released. The singer's extreme secretiveness about the baby has people speculating.
Some family members were worried that there was something wrong with Jayden because Britney didn't let too many people see him.
Though Britney's mom, Lynne, has been helping to take care of the baby, other friends and family members have been kept at arm's length.
When the pop star's housekeeper fell ill, Britney borrowed a friend's maid for a day, but kept Jayden hidden. When it was time to clean the nursery, Britney asked the maid to wait in another room while she was getting Jayden out of his crib.
But insiders who have seen Jayden insisted there was nothing wrong with the baby. "Jayden is adorable and perfect - just like his brother, only with dark hair," they said.
There were speculations that Britney's secrecy was a ploy to get better offers for his first photos. After all, the singer reportedly received $1.5 million for the first photos of Sean.
Jayden's First Public Appearance
Jayden wasn't seen in public until he was 135 days old. After almost five months of waiting, the world got a peek at Brit's son!
Britney Spears was back at work, rehearsing for two hours at a Burbank, California, dance studio. But on January 25, what surprised onlookers more than her renewed work ethic was the first public sighting of her 5-month-old son, Jayden! His older brother, Sean Preston has often been seen out and about with his mom, which fueled speculation that there might be something wrong with little Jayden. But a witness from the studio happily reported, "Jayden is just as cute as Sean Preston." Although the photo was blurry, it was still the first. The photo everyone's been dying to see was made by "X17," and Britney's fans bombarded her with notes about how adorable Jayden looks. Britney was happy about such positive response.
Several days later, Xavier Ronan spotted Britney's ex-husband dining with both of his sons at "Casa De Carlos" in LA. "The kids are adorable. They look-alike. I think Jayden resembles his mother - blond and cute," he said.
The first clear pictures of Jayden James appeared only in June 2006, when the baby was 9 months and he was in Hawaii with his brother and mother.

She bought "Baby Jogger City Series Double Stroller" for $549.95. Britney also purchased 2 onsies with slogans "Well, Here I Am, What Are Your Other 2 Wishes?" and "Pick Me Up".
