Britney's Pregnancy
Just before Thanksgiving 2004, Britney Spears posted a letter to fans talking about her desire to take a break from music and focus on motherhood: "The only thing I haven't done so far is experience the closest thing to God and that's having a baby. I can't wait!"
On April 12, 2005 an American sweetheart of all teens announced on her official web-site: "The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together. There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend, Kevin and I just want everyone to know that all is well. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers." Britney's pregnancy announcement came amid tabloid reports that she was rushed to a hospital near her vacation home in Destin, Florida, and spent 48 hours under a doctor's surveillance because of bleeding. She was on her 4th month. This pregnancy wasn't an accident, it was planned, and the pair had chosen not to know the sex of the baby.
Seeing their baby's image in a sonogram for the first time, Britney couldn't say anything, and she described it as the most emotional feeling in the world. Beyond battling "horrible" morning sickness, Britney found pregnancy empowering. "I think it brings out a pure side of you, and I think that's cool," she said.
Britney's hormones were going crazy. And sometimes she was so emotional that couldn't stop crying. She'd be watching some movies and instead of crying at the sad part she had been crying the whole movie. There were days when Britney just wanted to sleep all day for no reason. In the mornings she had sickness, and it was horrible. Her cravings during the pregnancy were pickles and ice cream at night. She ate tuna fish with cheese. And she could eat it all together.
In the beginning of August Britney hosted a Moroccan themed baby shower - insisting friends and family attend the party barefoot and beautiful. The pregnant pop princess invited 19 guests to the gathering, held in a bamboo tent in the back garden of her Malibu mansion. The lucky guests arrived at Britney's home where they walked over thousands of rose petals through the candle lit tent, before being treated to a Moroccan feast. "I wanted it to be really intimate with just my closest girlfriends and family members," said the singer. But the most anticipated arrival was husband Kevin's children Kaleb and Kori. Britney showed off her expanding bump in a black dress and cowboy boots, which she promptly removed to have Henna tattoos drawn on her toes.
Although Britney didn't know the sex of her baby, she had a feeling that it would be a boy. And she also had a feeling that she was going to have a C-section, and Britney wanted it because her mother said that giving birth was the most excruciating thing she's ever gone through. And many of Britney's feelings came true...
Media Coverages
Britney was due to give birth in the end of September. The singer already had her cesarean section scheduled for Friday, September 23, 2005. Britney experienced early labor contractions on September 9, 2005 and then spent the next several days in much physical discomfort. Pregnancy has not agreed with her, she has been sick a lot and couldn’t get out of bed all weekend.
She had originally been scheduled for a C-section the next day (September 15, 2004), but the surgery was moved up after she begun experiencing early contractions.
At 5.30a.m.Britney and Kevin left their Malibu mansion in a rented SUV and drove 14 miles with 8 bodyguards and a police escort to Santa Monica's "UCLA Medical Centre". A group of photographers gave chase. Spears and her husband Kevin Federline arrived at the hospital shortly before 6 a.m. and medical staff whisked the star into a birthing suite on the 5th floor.
"The National Enquirer" broke the news that Britney had been admitted to hospital for a Caesarean section. Britney originally checked into hospital under the name Lynn Smith, but when that name was leaked, it was changed to Lynn Rose, then finally Susan Rose. "Us Weekly" had trumpeted the news on Wednesday, 30 minutes after the birth, citing unidentified sources at "UCLA Medical Center" in Santa Monica, California.
The media coverage was raised to a fever pitch as several outlets, including "The Associated Press", jumped on the story, citing "Us Weekly". Paparazzi staked out the facility, as did news helicopters, all lying in wait for a potential shot of the singer or a member of her family.
The Day of Birth
Britney has been crying all morning. Her mum Lynn Spears and sister Jamie Lynn arrived and check into the room next door. Britney confided she was terrified about the birth.
The singer was wheeled into a delivery room about 12:15 p.m. She is given an epidural. Within 15 minutes it has taken effect. At 12.30p.m. she was put on the operating table and medics begin the procedure. Within minutes the first-time mother had delivered via Caesarean section with Federline by her side. Both parents were crying when the baby was born. It's a boy! Federline, who held his wife's hand throughout operation was very affectionate toward her. Proud dad Kevin cut the cord. A video camera recorded every moment of the birth, capturing Britney crying tears of joy, as she first sets eyes on her son.
The healthy baby weighed 6lbs. 11oz and 16in was born at 12:57p.m. He had a head full of dark, curly hair. Everyone was crying. Kevin, Britney, Britney's mum... they all broke down in tears.
Hospital rules were stretched for Britney. She was allowed two guests in the operating room-both Kevin and her mother. After the delivery, Britney was moved to the maternity ward's VIP suite. The baby never once left her side. About 2p.m. an exhausted but ecstatic Britney was told to rest. Britney had two nurses assigned to her and a lactation consultant to advise her about breastfeeding. In the evening a professional photographer took pictures of the proud parents and their baby.
The Spears-Federline clan took over half of the fifth floor maternity ward and were resting among big screen TVs, couches, and sofa beds. As well as her $3,000-a-night suite, filled with orchids and roses, Britney has hired five $1,500-a-night rooms to ensure her privacy, and had bodyguards patrolling the corridors.
The Baby's Name
Early morning September 15 a joint statement appeared on Britney's official website: "We are ecstatic to announce the birth of our son! Everyone is happy, healthy and doing wonderful. Thank you all for your love and well wishes!" After the trauma of giving birth, Britney was treated to a first meal of pancakes, prepared by her own chef at 8a.m.
Fearful that a rogue photographer could snatch a picture of her son, Britney walked around the hospital with him under a blanket. The only visitors allowed so far have been close family. Kevin's two children by his former-girlfriend Shar Jackson - Kori and Kaleb - visited their new sibling.
But the child name was still unknown. Britain's "Sky News" reported Spears was considering naming her and Federline's child London, after the British capital where their romance blossomed. But "Us Weekly's" sources had the singer set on Preston Michael Spears Federline. Later that day "Access Hollywood" reported that the name of Britney's baby was Sean Preston Federline, however, Britney announced the name only on the weekend. He was named Sean Preston.
On September 17 Britney with her baby left the "UCLA Medical Centre" and headed home.
Sexy Mama
Faced with the pressure to regain her pre-pregnancy figure and the adjustment of being a first-time mom, Britney Spears has reportedly been battling the postpartum blues since giving birth. Her mood has been up and down since she came home, and she's been crying through the smiles.
Throughout her pregnancy, Britney seemed determined to eat for two. The blossoming pop princess was regularly snapped tucking into her favorite fried chicken, pizza and calorie-packed bagels, as well as slurping full fat iced coffees and ice cream-clogged milkshakes. And it took its toll with her weight apparently soaring from 119lb to 170lb, an increase which is 20lb over what is deemed healthy to put on during pregnancy. Following the birth of her son Sean Preston, Britney was anxious to shift her post-baby curves.
While Britney was sitting at home she could take care of her body. She had turned to diet guru, who helped her to make a special-eating plan. And it turned to be successful.
Just a month after giving a birth to her son, on October 14, Britney Spears wowed onlookers, showing off her new tummy in a camisole top. Some people even speculated that the pop star had undergone plastic surgery. Britney's amazing transformation came from great genes, determination and hard work.
Sean's First Troubles
One month after Sean's birth no one haven't seen him, except close family members. Paparazzi wanted to get the first shoot of the child but they were unlucky. Britney had never taken him out of the house.
The Britney Spears baby photos have been rumored to have a price tag of between $1-2 million. First the reports were that "OK!" Magazine was set to buy the baby pictures. Next a report said that People Magazine would have the shots in the end of October. But Britney changed her mind about letting the world see her baby. The pop star posed for studio shots with her baby Sean Preston and her husband Kevin Federline in the middle of October. The pictures by Mark Liddel were supposed to go to a magazine but the next day, Britney made up her mind. She started crying that she was selling out her baby and couldn't give up the pictures.
But in the end of October, Britney had to handle a serious trouble. On October 21, a number of photographs of Britney Spears, her husband Kevin Federline and their infant son, which had been taken in a private photo shoot, were stolen or unlawfully taken. An official statement was released saying: "Anyone who publishes, sells or otherwise exploits any of these images in any way will be subject to liability and damages for willful infringement of copyright, and will be liable for invasion of privacy of Ms. Spears, Mr. Federline and their infant son, for unauthorized commercial use of the name and photographs of Ms. Spears, Mr. Federline and their son, and for wrongful conversion of the photographs."
The pictures, published on websites were removed, and two days after this incident has been forgotten. The fan site that originally published these tiny shoots has taken them down too.eir Malibu home.
Sean Preston's First Public Appearance
The next month was calm. Britney didn't say anything about her baby. It seemed that the dream of many fans to see her baby would never come true.
In the middle of November 2005 Britney Spears and her husband Kevin Federline have taken a short holiday to New York. They have been enjoying the sites of the Big Apple and went to watch new Broadway musical "Sweet Charity," starring Christina Applegate, before heading off to do some Christmas shopping. The next day, November 19, when all family members were going to leave the city, paparazzi got their luck. When Britney Spears, Kevin Federline, and Sean Preston Federline have been leaving their New York hotel, baby's nanny was holding him in a car. This time Britney wasn't hiding him. She smiled to the cameras, and paparazzi took the chance to make as much pictures of little Preston as possible.
Just several days after Sean's first public appearance, on November 25, "People" magazine debuted him on its cover. With a headline that screamed "Baby Love," a beaming Britney was shown snuggling with newborn baby Sean Preston, wrapped in a cozy blue and white blanket, as proud papa Kevin looked on. In an interview with People, Spears said she and her husband, Kevin Federline, were planning to host both families for Thanksgiving in their Malibu home.
Sean's First Holidays
When Britney Spears and her husband Kevin Federline prepared to host their families at their Malibu home for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner in 2005, the star attraction was the couple's first child, 11-week-old Sean Preston. This day the whole family gathered in front of TV screen to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in the morning. The rest of they day they spent with their families and ate a lot! The family's Thanksgiving menu was made of Britney's favorite southern-style home-cooked specialties, including cornbread, giblet gravy, sweet potato crunch, broccoli casserole, sweet tea, pecan pie and New Orleans-style bread pudding with hot rum sauce.
The next holyday - Christmas, first in Sean's life. Britney and Kevin have transformed his bedroom into the nativity setting in celebration of his first festive holiday. The singer has splashed out on the lavish decorations - which include six waxwork models and several life-size toy donkeys and cattle. And she has even bought a cherrywood style manger for her baby. It cost an absolute fortune. But at least she didn't have to buy a baby Jesus - because Sean was playing the part! All Christmas gifts for Sean, Britney and Kevin purchased in a "Toys R Us" boutique.
Sean Preston's Style (1-3 months)
There were many baby items that Britney and Kevin have either bought or been gifted with. Ellen DeGeneres gave Britney and Kevin a "Silver Cross Balmoral Pram"(retail price $2,800) when they appeared on her show. This ride came pimped with neon lights on the wheels, spinners and a DVD player. Britney also received some baby clothes from Donatella Versace.
She purchased two blue onesies from the ever-popular LA boutique "Kitson" in early August. They said "I'd rather be getting a tattoo" and "My family tree is full of nuts".
Back in October, Britney Spears was photographed leaving a private plane with a bodyguard carrying son Sean Preston. He was covered up by a blanket but you could see a tiny glimpse of his car seat which appears to be a "Combi Connection Infant Carseat" in "Carolina Sky". This model comes with all the standard safety features such as five-point padded safety harness, three layers of protective foam in head area, including energy-absorbing foam for impact protection and comfort foam that adjusts as your baby grows and latch attachment.
Sean Preston Spears Federline is "Uncommonly Cute". Britney's little baby is rocking tees from "Uncommonly Cute" that say "Swinger," "Elmo is My Homeboy" and "Player." Uncommonly Cute's other tees and onesies say things like "Freshly Baked," "Cool Chick," "Rock Star," "Future Mrs. Pitt" and "Local Celebrity." They carry sizes for preemie, newborn and infant to 24 months.
Online boutique "Emmy & Ally" offered a number of tees with funny sayings, including the seasonal appropriate "Lil Pumpkin" and "Ba hum Bug." Britney Spears owned the "Chick Magnet" onesie for her baby Sean Preston.
"Bebe Au Lait" was founded by Aimee Lagos and Claire Ekelund during playdates between their two children. While both were pregnant with their second child they started the search for a perfect cover-up to use for their imminent nursing sessions. As soccer wives to members of the San Jose Earthquakes, they had found that attending these public events with a nursing baby proved to be a hassle for lack of privacy and they were tired of having to leave social gatherings because of a hungry baby. The "Bebe Au Lait" nursing was developed after they searched high and low for a better solution to discreet nursing. These stylish cover-ups made of light-weight fabric allow baby to focus on nursing and give Britney peace of mind as she stays fully covered. Several celebrities have been "gifted" the "Bebe Au Lait" nursing cover, including Britney Spears.
"Crib Rock Couture", an original cotton line of Concert Tees mixes vintage nursery rhyme legends with pop culture and hip-hop lingo, elevating our rhyming friends to rock star status! Their tees has been gifted the line to celebrity moms, including Britney Spears
But the most significant thing Sean has got is a special pacifier. "Bling Bling Baby" gives "silver spoon" a whole new meaning. Britney Spears was one of the first celebrities to discover the new glamorous collection, choosing a bejeweled skull and crossbones pacifier for her son Sean. These sparkling bedazzled baby accessories are very cute!
