Britney Spears agrees that make-up is more fun now than it has been for years.
Britney's favorite beauty products are made by "Nars" and "Kiehl's", both of which are adored by supermodels. She particularly loves "Nars" foundation because it's not too thick and is very subtle. Her fave eyeshadow is "All About Eve" from "Nars", and her second fave is "Heaven". Both are pale and sparkly, giving her face an angelic, ethereal quality. The big surprise shade for spring and summer 2000 was orange, and Britney used both orange and apricot around her eyes to superb effect. It really draws attention to her eyes and gives her a cool futuristic look. Britney's favorite color is blue, but brown is her signature for eye shadow. Her make-up bag is crammed with brand main products such as "MAC," "Face Stockholm," and "Shu Uemura."
And shimmering powers are an absolute essential when it comes to showing off Britney's smooth skin under the hot spotlight.
Her makeup artist chooses colors to fit the mood of the concert, TV-appearance, photo shoot - and the colors are nothing like what Britney might wear during the day at home. But under the bright lights of the stage, or the blinding strobes of the flashbulbs Britney uses a much heavier makeup hand - the brighter the lights, the paler the complexion, and If she wants to look healthy and rosy, she needs lots of makeup to counter those flashes.
Glamour Magazine's "Women of the Year" Look
Britney has gone from being "not a girl, not yet a woman" to being one of Glamour magazine’s "Women of the Year" in 2003. Her arts camp for underprivileged youth proves that Britney is beautiful on the inside, too. No doubt, you’re "Woman of the Year" to someone in your life. Why not look the part with soft, dreamy eyes and upbeat lips like Britney's? This combination is great for day or night, and it can be worn by all.
1. Face.
- Foundation, Concealer:
After moisturizing, apply concealer to the inner corners of the eyes and underneath to cover dark circles. Apply a small amount of concealer to the eyelid for a base foundation before applying shadow.
Use a creamy foundation in a shade as close to your natural skin tone as possible and apply to any areas of the face that need evening out. Blend well.
- Blush:
Use a rose or berry blush, whichever compliments your skin tone and looks most natural. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks (the part that gets fat when you smile) for a naturally glowing look.
2. Eyes.
- Eyelid:
Apply a very light tint, pearly, neutral shade on just the lid.
- Crease:
Apply a chocolate brown shadow in a matte formula in the crease from corner to corner. Blend very well. To create a wide-eyed look, apply this shade on the outer third of the upper lid and lashline, and then sweep it under the outer third of the lower lashline. Blend well for a soft, dreamy look.
- Hilite:
Use a pearly, light-tinted neutral shade sparingly on the brow bone.
- Eyeliner:
Choose a matte formula, light or medium brown powder liner or eyeshadow. Apply dry or use a wet liner brush.
Apply a thin line to the top lash line, from corner to corner. Use a light touch and get the color in between the lashes. You can try dotting your way across the lashline and then going back and filling in to create one continuous, thin line. Repeat the process on the lower lashline. Finally, trace a thin, faint line around the inner corners of the eyes.
- Brows:
Use a brow pencil or powder to shape and fill in brows. Start by defining the arch and then fill in the rest as necessary.
- Lashes: Curl the upper lashes. Coat upper and lower lashes two times with a black thickening mascara.
3. Lips.
To get glass-smooth lips, brush them very gently with an old, soft toothbrush. Then apply petroleum jelly and allow it to soak in for 30 or more minutes. You can do this first and let it sit while you apply the rest of your makeup.
Apply a pigment-rich berry or rose shade of lipstick that coordinates with your blush. Use something bright and happy. Apply a couple coats of clear gloss. Stay away from pearly formulas.

"American Music Awards 2000" Look
There's nothing "Oops!" about this pop icon's All-American look. If you want to look like Britney on "American Music Awards 2000", these tips will help you.
1. Face.
- Foundation, Concealer:
Britney has a healthy glow, but we doubt it's from too much sun. Try a bronzer to capture that sun kissed look without a lot of heavy makeup. Start with a concealer one shade lighter than your natural skin tone. Apply it in small dots under the eyes and in the inner socket between the pupil and bridge of your nose and blend in with your fingers or a sponge. (It's also great for covering up zits.)
Dip a large powder brush or velour puff into bronzing powder and tap off excess. Brush onto face in wide sweeping strokes. Adding a little extra to top of forehead, chin and nose will make you look like you just came in from the sun.
- Blush:
Try a wine-colored blush in cream or powder. A cream blush, however, will give you more of that dewy glow Britney's sporting and may ned to be applied underneath bronzing powder. Apply to tips of fingers and dab on the apples of cheeks. Blend in and smooth across cheekbones.
2. Eyes.
- Eyelid:
Cover the entire lid with a frosty light or baby blue shadow.
- Crease:
Use a frosty light pink or shell and cover the entire crease, all the way across the brow bone and under the arch of the brow.
- Hilite:
Using the same pink or shell, cover the inner corners of lids to make eyes look more widely spaced.
- Eyeliner:
Try fat liner in either a cobalt or Mediterranean blue to line lower and upper lids. Start with the outer corner of the upper lid and carry line to just past the pupil. Smudge with a sponge applicator so that the where the line stops isn't visible. For the lower lashline, make the line much fatter, dropping down about 1/8 of an inch.
- Mascara:
Try mascara with a brush to thicken and lengthen lashes in a black or black/brown.
- Brows:
To recapture perfect brows like Britney's, try a powder shadow in a sable or brown.
3. Lips.
To copy Britney's kissable lips, try a rose pencil and a mauve lipstick or gloss.

Britney's Smokey Eyes
Britney's smokey eyes always look perfect.
A Spears's makeup artist, Karan Mitchell, first uses a flat brush to line the entire eye with mahogany shadow from "Christian Dior's 5-Colour Eyeshadow" - The Browns ($49.50, at "Sephora"). Then she applies a series of Chanel Stellaires Quadra eyeshadows: gold shadow on the brow bone, rose shadow on the inside corners of her lids and berry on the outside corners (all used with a sopping-wet eye brush). Her lashes are then curled and coated twice with "L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara" in Black.
Britney's Surprise Look
Britney Spears looked fabulous during her surprise appearance on Letterman Shaw in November 2006. You can thank Ramy Gafni, the makeup artist to the stars, who owns RamySpa in New York and who founded Ramy Beauty Therapy. Ramy had the pleasure of making up the superstar. He revealed the products behind Britney's look, which you can create at home for yourself. All products are from Ramy Beauty.
To start, Ramy used his "Miracle Brow To Go" stick (the blonde side) to fill in her brows. Since she had just come from the Rita Hazan Salon where she was taken from a light brunette to blond again, her look was very fair-skinned.
Next he used "Skin Stick" #2 as a concealer under her eyes to cover and brighten, then followed that up with Ramy pure radiance pressed powder. For a fresh and even look, he applied his "Elixir Liqui" Powder Foundation in Porcelain Doll. This product is amazing because it totally disappears into the skin and eventually turns into a translucent powder! He lined her eyes with "The Perfect Eye Wand" eyeliner and eyeshadow.
For her lashes, he chose his award-winning "One Stop Shopping Mascara" which happened to be a great choice since it's waterproof. Then he used his famous "Alive Blush" to create all-over color on her eyes, cheeks and hairline. For an extra bright and awake look, he added a little bit of his "Hint Of a Tint In A Pot" to the apples of her cheeks.
On her lips, he used a new product called "2 Lips" in Call Me Red. This is a really cool and compact lip solution that combines a cream lipstick on one end and a lip pencil in the other.
For the finishing touch, he added a little bit of his lightest, vanilla-colored highlighter to the upper part of her cheekbones from his Classic "Beauty Cream Quad".
