First Britney Spears' world tour "Oops!.. I Did It Again" begun on June 20, 2000 at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. Britney was really nervous about her first performance. "I just get a good energy going through my body when I hear the audience screaming. I just get excited - I get really, really excited. But the first show I'm really, really nervous, and there's nothing you can do about it. But sometimes, when you're the most nervous, you have the best shows," she said.
This tour was different from her first tour "...Baby One More Time", because there were a lot more pyro, more sets and costume changes. Britney said that she was not lip-syncing on tour, and she understands why people may get that impression after seeing her perform live. She said, "Really, on the first tour that I did and the second tour, when I had the big screen up ahead of me, there was a delay of what's actually happening on the stage, so I think that was confusing them and they were thinking that I was lip-syncing. But no, I'm never lip-syncing. There's times in the choruses when they up the background vocals and it helps me out, but I'm singing my ass off!"
Britney Spears teamed up with Polaroid Corporation to kick of her 2nd leg, North American Tour. The camera was used on stage throughout the tour and Polaroid hosted picture taking activities inside the venues as well as at pre-concert events in select markets. Britney also became an official Ambassador of YouTopia in Summer Hummer Tour which followed Britney's "Oops... I Did It Again" North American Tour.
The show was televised live from Wembley Arena, London, and an edited version of the show was put into Fox's Special "There's No Place Like Home" in 2000. Britney also took part in "Rock In Rio" Festival, which was broadcasted in Brazil on national TV.
The show featured video images of a bald virtual Britney being sucked through a portal inviting you to enjoy "The Britney Spears Experience". Even before Brit's spaceship came floating down from the darkness during "(You Drive Me) Crazy", the crowd was pumped, a thousand glow sticks wildly fluttered like a swarm of fire flies.
Britney's in-your-face dance moves were rocked by massive explosions as she flung her arms in different directions. The stage automatically changed design for each song, for example, during Lucky it changed to a bedroom. That wasn't the only thing changing as Britney sported a hot new costume just about every song. The highlights included a fan who met Britney, an elaborate Asian costume that fanned out over the entire stage as Britney shot to the ceiling during a "Beat Goes On", the explosive finale of "...Baby One More Time" and "Oops!... Did it Again".
Britney's opening acts for this show included A-Teens, L.F.O., Mikaila, BBMak, Innosense, No Authority, 5ive, Nobody's Angel, Don Philip and C-Note.
This tour, as well as her previous ones, was highly recommended and had a major success.
