Britney visits "Mother," could be invited again

2008-05-14 22:01:31 • Anna
Britney Spears’ cameo appearance on the March 24 episode of “How I Met Your Mother” was so warmly welcomed by the public and critics that she came back for a second appearance. Is a third to follow?
“Everything Must Go” is the title of the second episode of CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” that guest starred Britney Spears as likeable dizzy receptionist Abby. The show aired Monday, May 12.
While there has been a bit of complaining about the stunt casting from series star Neil Patrick Harris (who subsequently clarified that he had actually very much enjoyed working with Brit Brit), the show’s producers appreciated the singer’s impact on viewers and ratings.
The show’s co-creator, Craig Thomas, told the Hollywood Reporter that Monday’s episode was especially crafted to allow for a third cameo from the 26-year-old pop singer next season.
“She was better than the first time,” Thomas said, “and I think the fans will enjoy it because her return answers a larger mystery set up earlier in the series. So there’s a good plot reason why she’s there.”
Britney was just as cute the second time around and pulled off her role nicely. It remains to be seen whether ratings were boosted by her presence. While there are little complaints to be aimed at her, the script failed to draw the big laughs fans of the show are used to.
Britney’s first cameo helped “HIMYM” garner its highest ratings ever, 10.6 million viewers. She convinced 1 million additional viewers tune in for her episode, Nielsen Media Research estimates showed.
Britney’s work on the show elicited praise from the cast from the first episode. “[Spears] was so funny, and she already had her character down pat,” Alyson Hannigan, who plays Lily on the show, told TV Guide in March. “I had no idea she had such great comic timing.”
Jason Segel, who plays Marshall on the show, also praised the entertainer saying she contributed to the episode’s dialogue with a few improvised lines that were “really good” and saying she is “definitely a comedian.”

Miley Cyrus defends Britney Spears

2008-05-13 14:58:16 • Anna
Miley Cyrus has come to the defense of Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears - insisting it's "normal" for young stars to run wild.
The 15-year-old Hannah Montana star, who has come under fire for a set of racy photos published in Vanity Fair last month (Apr08), is adamant the pair have "good hearts".
Cyrus says, "Everyone has their time. And I think most 21- to 25-year-olds go through this kind of thing. Basically, they're being normal 21-year-olds, especially Lindsay (Lohan). I mean, most of that's pretty normal. If you went to most high schools, I could point out Britneys (Spears) and Lindsays. I guess that's why I'm so adamant about the Britneys and Lindsays and whatever, because I know those people and I know they have good hearts and they're just struggling."

Britney's aunt: "She's back on track"

2008-05-13 03:02:09 • Anna
American pop star Britney Spears' aunt has confirmed that the troubled singer is well again. Chanda Mcgovern has given credit to Spears' parents Jamie and Lynne for getting their daughter back on track, stating that, had they not interfered, the singer would not have recovered so well.
"We didn't know if she'd make it through the next day and we're all very proud of her now. This time last year everyone was in turmoil," she said.
Mcgovern also added that the problems could have started because of Britney's attitude.
"She is very headstrong and doesn't like being told what to do. I hope she'll never walk down that path again and I think she's got a bright future," she added.
To prove that her aunt was right about her, Spears was seen looking much better than before as she stepped out in Hollywood, without the scruffy look she usually sported.

Britney & Kevin's relationship improved

2008-05-13 02:06:46 • Anna
There may be a thaw in the formerly contentious relationship between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, suggests K-Fed's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan.
Spears, who last week was awarded more visitation time with her sons by Federline (Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1), was the topic of discussion for Kaplan, on Monday's Today show.
Kaplan said that the judge's decision at last week's ruling reflected an "improvement" in Spears's condition. She spent full days, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on both May 8th and Mother's Day with her sons.
Asked about the current status of the relationship between the couple – including the rumor they would again star together on a TV show – Kaplan sidestepped any direct answers, instead saying that any potential reconciliation between Spears and Federline would be for the sake of their sons. (Britney makes her second appearance on CBS's How I Met Your Mother Monday night.)
"If you're going to have two parents participate in the lives of raising their children," said Kaplan, "there has to be some camaraderie between them for that to be a meaningful expectation and reality."
But are things better between the ex-husband and wife?
"When you go from where things were, when there was no visitation, to where they are now," said Kaplan, "there will be some contact … there'd be some ability to exchange a camaraderie that is necessary and a function of co-parenting together."

Madonna speaks up for Britney Spears

2008-05-10 17:49:29 • Anna
Madonna has defended Britney Spears' recent erratic behaviour.
The two duetted on the 2003 track 'Me Against The Music', and famously shared a lingering kiss onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards that year.
"She never was allowed to have a childhood, you know, she was a star when she was a child," said Madonna on Radio 1. "She didn’t get to grow up and make mistakes privately... she's been under a microscope since she was a teenager, which I think is really tough, it's hard to evolve that way."

New album in the works?

2008-05-09 00:54:48 • Anna
Looks like all those trips to the recording studio as of late aren't "just for fun," as her re-hired manager Larry Rudolph has publicly stated. According to The Sun, Britney is determined to release a studio album late this year, and has been amazing in the studio: "impressive demos from recent studio work reignited their faith and they are confident she can crush aging Whitney in a titanic Christmas LP scrap."
A label source said: "Britney has been on fire in the studio of late. During recording sessions for the last album she was consumed by her chaotic private life. But she is determined to make a triumphant comeback. Top brass have been amazed by the quality of tracks they've heard."
Looks like we'll have to wait and see. I'd prefer a simple "Blackout" re-release while she continues her path of healing. 2 new singles, a remix, new photoshoot and wa-la. Wonder what tricks Britney's got up her sleeve.

Britney Spears looks for a new home nearer to her boys

2008-05-09 00:09:03 • Anna
Britney Spears is on the hunt for a new home again.
The pop star is reportedly planning to buy a $6 million mansion in Encino, California.
Spears spent Wednesday afternoon looking around the five-bedroom property, which is situated close to her ex-husband Kevin Federline's home in nearby Tarzana.
The house Spears looked at comes with fountains, a jacuzzi, a swimming pool with a spa and a wine cellar. The move to the Valley makes sense for Spears, who was awarded added custody of her two young sons earlier this week.

Britney's trainer impressed with pop star's fitness

2008-05-09 00:06:45 • Anna
Britney Spears has left her trainer stunned by her work-out schedule, which has helped her shed 15 poundsin four weeks. Marc Corliss insists the pop superstar is among his best ever clients because she does everything he tells her to do and works out on her own.
The pop star has become a regular at Hollywood's Bally's gym, where she often works out with her father Jamie, and Corliss is impressed by her work ethic.
He tells Life & Style magazine, "She's hell-bent on getting a rocking midsection again. She's been training hard for the past four weeks, doing about 500 or so abdominal exercises every day. And she's seeing a major difference already."
Corliss reveals Spears is also doing an hour of interval training, like sprinting mixed with weight training, four days a week.
He adds, "She's a real go-getter, super upbeat and fun to be around. She's motivated and positive; she's definitely on the right track. I'm training her the way I would train an athlete. With her dance background, she's already in better shape than most people."
The personal trainer also reveals that Spears likes to workout to her favourite radio shows on pop and hip-hop station 107.2, which often plays her hits.

Inside Jamie Lynn's baby shower!

2008-05-09 00:03:31 • Anna

With Britney Spears embroiled in a seemingly neverending custody battle and 17-year-old sis Jamie Lynn Spears expecting her first child very soon, it's hard to imagine a family under more scrutiny these days than the Spears clan.
But in spite of all the outside pressure on them, it was nothing but good times for the Spears sisters when they reunited on May 2 for the Zoey 101 star's baby shower.
"It was wonderful to be able to spend time with her and just be girls again," Jamie Lynn told OK! in an exclusive interview about seeing her sister for the first time in months. "We painted our nails and did stupid stuff."
Even better, explains Jamie Lynn, was that she was able to have some one-on-one time with Brit: "To be able to be in the privacy of our own home and just be sisters again was wonderful."
Mother-of-two Britney even shared some words of wisdom with her pregnant sibling. "She told me, 'There are going to be some long nights, but it is completely worth it,'" Jamie Lynn recalls to OK!.
As for whether or not the pop superstar will make it back home to Louisiana when Jamie Lynn has the baby, the teen star tells OK!, "Nothing is set in stone, but that would be wonderful. I'd love to have her here for that, but you can't plan that far ahead."
Even if Brit isn't there in person for her younger sister, the two are in almost-constant contact, says Jamie Lynn.
